However now local media report that plans to build the new airport have been restarted.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The construction project will be started on January 1, 2006 and RMB 2.323 billion will be invested on the project.<\/p>\n<p>The new airport is 20km from Shantou, Chaozhou, and Jieyang.
