{"id":34875,"date":"2005-11-08T22:42:55","date_gmt":"2005-11-08T14:42:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.chinahospitalitynews.com\/2005\/11\/08\/patas-new-performance-results-show-steady-china-climb\/"},"modified":"2005-11-08T22:42:55","modified_gmt":"2005-11-08T14:42:55","slug":"patas-new-performance-results-show-steady-china-climb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.chinahospitalitynews.com\/cn\/2005\/11\/08\/34875\/","title":{"rendered":"PATA's New Performance Results Show Steady China Climb"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"60\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chinahospitalitynews.com\/images\/pata_logo_120x60.gif\" width=\"120\" align=\"right\">The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) has published its comprehensive and comparative listing of Asia Pacific destination performance for second quarter 2005.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The report shows which destinations attracted the most increases in international visitor arrivals, and from which source markets.<\/p>\n<p>The top five origin-destination growth performances for second quarter 2005 compared to second quarter 2004, (where passenger traffic was 25,000 or more) were:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; China (PRC) to Philippines (+208.9%)<br \/>&#8211; Korea (ROK) to Macau SAR (+121.8%)<br \/>&#8211; Korea (ROK) to Malaysia (+99%)<br \/>&#8211; Korea (ROK) to Cambodia (+96.2%)<br \/>&#8211; Spain to China (PRC) (+73.9%)<\/p>\n<p>The top five destination winners for the quarter, in terms of arrivals from all markets, compared to second quarter 2004, were:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Vanuatu (+43.3%)<br \/>&#8211; Cambodia (+38.8%)<br \/>&#8211; Sri Lanka (+38.6%)<br \/>&#8211; Papua New Guinea (+34.5%)<br \/>&#8211; Lao (PDR) (+33.8%)<\/p>\n<p>In total, 14 Asia Pacific destinations enjoyed double-digit arrivals growth for the quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Only four destinations registered double-digit losses: Samoa (-10.4%); Nepal (-18%); New Caledonia (-38.7%); and the Maldives (-40.9%). The Maldives continued to suffer in the aftermath of the December 26, 2004 Tsunami.<\/p>\n<p>The 32 Asia Pacific destinations included in the report collectively gained +7.4% over second quarter 2004.
