{"id":34961,"date":"2005-11-30T23:54:27","date_gmt":"2005-11-30T15:54:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.chinahospitalitynews.com\/2005\/11\/30\/shanghai-witnessing-good-hotel-occupancy-levels\/"},"modified":"2005-11-30T23:54:27","modified_gmt":"2005-11-30T15:54:27","slug":"shanghai-witnessing-good-hotel-occupancy-levels","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.chinahospitalitynews.com\/cn\/2005\/11\/30\/34961\/","title":{"rendered":"Shanghai Witnessing Good Hotel Occupancy Levels"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"60\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chinahospitalitynews.com\/images\/rmb_sign.gif\" width=\"60\" align=\"right\">Shanghai's hotel business is as robust as Hong Kong's at the moment, according to reports from Hong Kong media.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Now in high season, occupancies of the city's 25,000 four- and five-star rooms are hovering around 80%, Portman Ritz-Carlton general manager Ralph Grippo told the South China Morning Post.<\/p>\n<p>Average room rates last month were US$300, he said, compared with US$265 over the year, more than US$55 up on last year.<\/p>\n<p>Occupancies are stable with fluctuations attributed to Lunar New Year, summer holiday season and other Chinese holidays.<\/p>\n<p>Being primarily a business destination, occupancies in Shanghai drop to about 70% over holidays and weekends.<\/p>\n<p>Most Shanghai hotels had a strong corporate base with opportunities to increase occupancies at weekends.
