Senior park executives said the theme park on Lantau would be open on schedule late next year or in early 2006, but there was no decision on the exact date or ticket prices.

Mr Chao said Disney had consulted a fung shui master before choosing the date and time of yesterday's event. We organised it between 3pm and 5pm because it's the lucky time, he said, adding that fung shui experts would also help choose the opening date.

In the ceremony, the top-most turret of the castle was lowered into place. The 24-metre Sleeping Beauty Castle is the park's centrepiece and it is the only other Disney castle based on the original in California. The event was the first time media have been granted access to the Penny's Bay site since the construction launch ceremony early last year. Another of the theme park's key attractions, Space Mountain, could also be seen being built. Space Mountain features an indoor roller-coaster.

Marketing and sales vice-president Roy Tan Hardy said the park was expected to receive 5.6 million visitors in its first year, with about 35 per cent from the mainland, 33 per cent from Hong Kong and the rest from Southeast Asia. He said Hong Kong Disneyland already had 400 workers and would recruit up to 5,000 more.

Fung shui experts will be consulted before the opening day for Hong Kong Disneyland is chosen.

[12723

post-35111","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-english
["GET
