Some Chinese Airports To Implement Special Security Checks

The Civil Aviation Administration of China has announced that from July 20, 2008, some domestic airports will implement special measures for security checks to ensure flight safety during the Beijing Olympic Games.

According to the notice, CAAC has decided to implement special security checking procedures at Beijing Capital International Airport, Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, Shanghai Pudong International Airport; and airports in Qingdao, Tianjin, Shenyang, Qinhuangdao, Shijiazhuang, Taiyuan, Jinan, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Hefei, Changchun, Harbin, Huhhot, Dalian, Xinjiang, and Tibet.

CAAC states that passengers who want to enter these airports should first undergo a security check at the entrance of the terminal building. If anyone violates the prohibition against taking explosive articles or inflammable and explosive materials when boarding, they will be punished by the management departments according to the corresponding laws and regulations, and must bear all the consequences of not adhering to these regulations – for example by missing their flight.
