Guangdong's Inbound Tourist Numbers Decreased In Peak Season

According to the latest statistics issued by the Guangdong Provincial Tourism Bureau, for the first seven months of 2008, the numbers of inbound tourists in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Zhuhai decreased — visitors to these cities account for over 70% of Guangdong's travel market.

All three cities showed a double-digit decrease in the number of inbound tourists in July, a traditional peak season, Guangzhou with 13.56%, Shenzhen with 30.27% and Zhuhai with 9.53%. This July, the number of inbound tourists in Guangdong province overall decreased by 14.33%.

The number of inbound tourists handled by the travel agencies in the province went down by 14%, while the numbers for outbound tours and travel outside the province also decreased.
