Hotel Rates In Chinese Tour Cities Increase For Holiday Season

As Christmas Day and New Year holidays approach, hotel rates in many tour cities in China have begun to increase by different degrees.

According to data from Ctrip.com, during the period from late December through the January 1 holiday, rates of star-grade hotels in some hot tour cities including Sanya, Hong Kong, and Dalian, increased by about 10% to 30% compared from that of the middle of December 2008. Of these, the booking rates of four- and five-star hotels in Sanya averaged CNY570 and CNY1,350 per room per night; and the average booking rates of four- and five-star hotels in Dalian were CNY350 and CNY770 per room per night.

Meanwhile, rates of the high scale hotels in Guilin and Harbin also increased by about 10% compared to the rate in the middle December 2008; while that of the high scale hotels in some domestic business cities slightly decreased. Of these, the average rates of five-star hotels in Shanghai and Shenzhen decreased by about 5%.
