Beijing Tourism Revenue CNY610 Million Over New Year

Despite the blizzard on the last day of the three-day New Year Holiday, Beijing received a total of 1.16 million tourists during the holiday and achieved a total tourism revenue of CNY610 million for the period.

In light of the weather conditions during the holiday, the city tourism department took various measures including closing roads and amusement facilities to ensure the safety of tourists.

It is understood that Beijing's winter tourism programs were well received by tourists with the average renting rate of hot spring resorts reaching 64% during the holiday, which was considerably higher than the average hotel room occupancy rate during the period.

Statistics from Beijing Municipal Tourism Administration show that 20 major scenic spots in the city received 375,000 tourists during the three days, in particular they received a total of 310,000 tourists in the first two days of the holiday when the weather was fine, which was an increase of 15% over the same period of 2009.
