Extra SilkAir Flight To Chongqing During Chinese New Year

SilkAir, the regional wing of Singapore Airlines, will be mounting additional flights during the festive Chinese New Year period to cater to increased demand from travelers.

Between 11 and 20 February 2010, the airline will be offering extra flights to five destinations: Chongqing, Kuching, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Phuket.

Services to Chongqing will be increased by an additional flight on 15 February, flight MI 972 will depart from Singapore at 0720 and arrive in Chongqing at 1150; and the return flight, MI 971 will leave Chongqing at 1235 and arrive at Singapore at 1730.

Commenting on the increase in flight capacity, SilkAir's vice-president commercial, Alvin Seah, said that SilkAir had observed a significantly higher demand for travel during the Chinese New Year period, which falls on 14 and 15 February in 2010. He added that SilkAir is providing these extra flights as an added service for the convenience of its customers, who may be trying to get home in time for the New Year or simply making a quick getaway during this long holiday which also coincides with Valentine's Day.
